The Teacher

My Name is Borys Franiczek. I am a professional musician and educator with a passion for sharing the gift of musical expression. I am a graduate of the York University music program and have been teaching music lessons since 2008. I am also an active performer and have spent the last 14 years playing clubs and festivals in a multitude of styles such as jazz, classical, rock, R&B, Bossa Nova, just to name a few. Composition, song writing, arranging, and singing are among the other musical trades that I have experience working in. My main instrument is guitar. I also play mandolin, bass guitar, piano, and drums. My mission is to use this experience to help you or your child create a lifelong relationship with music!

The Story

My passion for music started in Grade 8 when a handful of musically inclined teachers at my elementary school decided to start an extracurricular music program called Guitar Club. We met during recess every Thursday for the year to jam our favorite rock songs. The goal was simple: pick three songs and learn to play them as a group. At the end of the year we performed for the school and even did a recording session at a recording studio that one of the teacher’s brothers had built in his basement.

The Guitar Club was a blessing for the shy eighth grader that I was back then. I was one of the most inexperienced guitar players in the group but music ensembles are naturally collaborative, so my contribution was welcomed with open arms.

Making music with other people has been a vital part of my life ever since. I can say with confidence that I owe everything that I have achieved in my music career to the other musicians that have made it special. The Guitar Club is not just a music school. It is a community of musicians at different levels of ability who are collaborating to make the world a more beautiful place.
